The Gecko in.temp is an air source heat pump designed for seamless integration with Gecko’s spa control systems. It offers direct digital communication via RS‑485 and enables full-featured control through supported keypads—but only if used with compatible hardware and firmware.

This guide outlines exactly what’s compatible with the in.temp, what’s required for installation, and where the limitations are.

🧱 Control Systems Compatible with Gecko in.temp

To operate the in.temp, you need a Gecko control system with a built-in or supported RS‑485 communication interface:

For compatibility, the spa pack must also be running Core 61 Rev 54 or newer firmware. Without this, the in.temp will not be recognised even if the RS‑485 port is present.

🎛 Required Keypads

To control and monitor the in.temp, you need a Gecko keypad with menu access to heat pump settings:

  • in.k330
  • in.k500
  • in.k800
  • in.k1000 / in.k1000+
  • in.k1001+

Older keypads or basic models may not support the required interface or display menus.

🔌 Communication & Power

  • Communication: RS‑485 cable connects in.temp to the Y-series pack. Polarity must be respected. No third-party controller needed.
  • Power: in.temp requires its own dedicated mains feed per Gecko’s CE/NA wiring diagrams.
  • Connection terminals are clearly marked inside both the spa pack and in.temp unit.

Once correctly installed and recognised, the in.temp enables:

  • Smart Winter Mode (freeze protection)
  • Set temperature control via keypad
  • Energy-saving modes (economy, filter cycles)
  • Real-time status monitoring from the spa interface
  • Automatic changeover between in.temp and integrated heater (if installed)

❌ What Won’t Work

  • Y-series packs without RS‑485 (e.g. YT‑12) — in.temp cannot communicate
  • Firmware below Core 61 Rev 54 — even with RS‑485, in.temp won’t be recognised
  • Unsupported keypads — in.temp won’t display or be adjustable
  • Incorrect wiring (e.g. RS‑485 reversed or not connected)

Final Notes

The Gecko in.temp is only plug-and-play with compatible Y-series systems that include RS‑485 and up-to-date firmware. If your control box is YT‑12 or an early revision without RS‑485, the in.temp will not function, and there is currently no upgrade option.
